As talked about in length in a past post, I got a Nikon D40 about a month ago. Since then, I’ve been quite the photog, jumping at every chance I get to go out and take photos. For those looking for a D40 that want sample photos, or those just interested in seeing my progress these past four weeks, here is my best of for photos I’ve uploaded to my Flickr photo sharing account since I’ve had the rockin’ camera.
Enjoy!

The water drop picture is one amazing shot, can see the reflection of the tile right in the drop, quite amazing how far digital photography has come.

I have to agree with Nick, that reflection in the drop of water makes for an amazing photo; kudos!

Again, definatly agreeing with Nick and Mike Schinkel!
If you can pull off water photographs like this, you are amazing.

Great job, Heny. Having just bought a Nikon D50 I know how difficult many of these shots must’ve been to take. Looking forward to some more, I’ll be keeping an eye on your flickr pool.

i really like the smoothness and the quality of colour that you capture in each picture. also the objects are framed very well and the outcome is pure magic. i’ll be anxious to try some stuff like this in the springtime, or even sooner if the weather stays clear.

What lens did you use for these photos?
Comment by kevin queen — March 8, 2008 @ 2:40 pm
@Kevin Queen, I used the included 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens for all of these. For a kit lens, it’s served me incredibly well.

HI. I got a D40 for Christmas and I love it. I was just wondering what setting you used to get the water droplet picture.
I’ve been messing around with it and I can’t find that setting

Henry,
Bought a NIKON D40 late last week and am figuring out the camera as I go along. It’s my first SLR camera and I am encouraged by the photos I’ve seen from others with the camera. Keep up the fine play.

I have been debating with myself over D60 or D40. Your examples, among others have finally swayed my choice, D40 it is. Great pictures!

Wow.
It’s hard to believe this is with the kit lens. In some of the pictures such as the water drop and butterfly, the depth of field is very short which I thought meant you have very high aperture such as 1.8 or 2 which the kit lens will not do.

What settings did you use for the pictures you have taken? They’re gorgeous!
Thanks!

Awesome Pictures!
Yea, I am now comparing photo shots from D40 and E420.. Urs stand out! The 420 has amazing picture quality but it appears to soft.. unlike this one, its so defined.
