Best. Cover letter. Ever.

When applying for a job, many companies request a cover letter — an introduction to the résumé that will follow — as a way for the job-seeker to highlight their strengths and experiences for the employer, to distinguish themselves from the other applicants. Of course, the job-seeker will want to make this cover letter as appealing as possible so as to make a lasting impression on the employer that might result in an interview. In this hilarious and completely true cover letter (mirror), Wayne cuts out the fluff and, really, cuts out anything that could get him an interview! Well worth checking out, and I, personally, can’t wait to see if he does anything with it, being the clearly audacious fellow he is.

Happy Pi Day!
Pi Symbol

Ah, ’tis my favorite day of the year. What day is it, exactly, my birthday? No. My half birthday, even? Of course not, it’s Pi Day! Today’s date — 3/14, or alternately, 3.14 — just so happens to be the first three digits of one delicious mathematical constant. Accordingly, I have prepared some celebration ideas.

Idea One: Bake a pie!

Bonus points if you bring it to your school or workplace.

Idea Two: Show your dedication

How do I presume you do this? By watching this a few dozen times and calling an assembly to show off your newly memorized mathematical prose.

Idea Three: Spread the gospel

That’s right. Get out there, show the non-believers the power of Pi. Bonus points for using Pi to determine a circle’s area in front of a live audience.

Whatever you do, embrace your geek-hood and show some love for Pi today.

30 Seconds with Phone Guy

Wow, I haven’t laughed as hard as I did in a long time when I watched some of the hilarious video ramblings of Phone Guy the other day.

So who is Phone Guy? Well, this particular phone guy’s secret identity happens to be that of 43 Folders‘ Merlin Mann, but I’m sure there’s at least one phone guy you know of, if not personally. A phone guy, you see, is simply enough the guy who’s always on the phone, wherever you go–restaurants, lobbies, parks, you name it. Of course, in addition to this, a true phone guy will always be talking far too loudly than is comfortable for those surrounding him, and the way he speaks will almost sound like he’s intentionally ensuring you hear his conversation, as if that’s the only way he knows of to get attention.

So, if you’ve got a couple of minutes to spare, and you need a good laugh, then check out the site, and prepare to spend 30 Seconds with Phone Guy.

Not Pluto, anything but Pluto!

Feelings of hurt, sorrow, frothing at the mouth, rage towards said ’scientists’.

Why, you ask, might I be experiencing these seemingly unrelated symptoms? It is because I now mourn the loss of one of, if not the best, planet in the whole entire universe: Pluto.

I’d write a song for you, oh ‘dwarf planet’, but alas, the sadness is too overwhelming. Oh jeez, I’m not long for this world–soon I’ll be with you, my sweet demoted planet, soon we’ll be together!

Society has hit a new low when…

…this is supposed to be a massive insult (no joke):

“You’re just jealous because no one goes on your myspace and you have no pic comments and no one ever talks to you.”

This was taken from an actual AIM conversation. I empathize for the youth of America. Actually, no I don’t.
